It is caused by the fat in the airway that can block the breathing. Drinking alcohol and smoking are two factors for many health problems as well. People who smoke will have three times risk to get sleep apnea because smoking will increase the inflammation in the airway. Meanwhile, alcohol has a substance that will make the muscle inside the throat relax and it will be worsen the sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea symptoms in women will also be triggered by the age. Being older means someone will get many health problems if they cannot keep their healthy lifestyle. A middle age person will more likely have higher risk to this sleep apnea disorders. By having family member with such sleep apnea history will also affect the risk of getting sleep apnea.
